The 2711P-RP8D logic module by Allen-Bradley is a module in the PanelView Plus 6 series. It supports the PanelView terminals without extended features. It is a 24 Volt DC input module with 512 MB of storage memory for data and application storage. It also has a volatile memory of 512 MB for processing applications. The module can be programmed by a computer using the RS-232 serial communication port. Other devices can also be linked to the 2711P-RP8D logic module via the same port. The module also uses the Ethernet protocol for enhanced network capability, and like other PanelView Plus 6 terminals, the 2711P-RP8D uses a standard Ethernet cable for applications, and data transfers between a computer and the PanelView Plus 6 (700 to 1500) terminal.

This unit is compatible with PanelView Plus 700-1500 Display terminals including the 2711P-RDT7C and 2711P-RDT10C. It can also be used with communication modules such as the 2711P-RN6 for additional communication ports. All fault codes for the 2711P-RP8D can be found in the manual. The logic module is often sold with display modules as an assembled terminal.

The PanelView Plus 6 component with catalog number 2711P-RP8D is a logic module that is intended for use with PanelView Plus 6 700-1500 operator terminals. This logic module is used as a replacement part for the existing logic module of a functioning operator terminal.

It comes with an internal Random Access Memory (RAM) amounting to 512MB and Flash Memory of 512 MB as well.

The 2711P-RP8D is powered by an external 24VDC supply voltage with a power dissipation of 70 Watts. It is installed at the back of the display module and connects the latter via the embedded PCI slot.

The 2711P-RP8D’s available communication interfaces are One (1) Ethernet Communication port that is used to integrate data of controllers within the Ethernet network, One (1) 9-Pin Sub-D Serial port for  Point-to-Point connection and peripheral connection via the embedded Two (2) USB interfaces.  may also be established through the Serial port using a 9-Pin D Sub connector. The USB ports are specifically designed for insertion of external peripherals such as keyboard, mouse, printers and external storage mediums.
