IC693PCM300 Programmable Coprocessor module is manufactured by GE Fanuc and is rated as a high-performance Coprocessor for the 90-30 Modular CPUs. Note that this type of module does not work with 311, 313, or 323 CPU models. It supports C programming and MegaBasic programming languages. A free program for this module is available and can be downloaded at the GE Fanuc site. This IC693PCM300 PCM is available in 3 versions: IC693PCM300, IC693PCM301 and IC693PCM302. The modules are designed to communicate with barcode readers, printers, scales, CRTs, programming terminals and RTU master devices to mention just but a few.
During installation, The PCM is only installable in the CPU base plate with exception of slot 1 which should contain a CPU module. As stated earlier, this PCM is not compatible with embedded CPUs versions 311. 131 or 323. LED indicators normally stay on to indicate that the module is working as expected. LED US1 flashes to communicate activity in Port 1 and LED US2 also flashes to indicate activity on Port 2. When there is no activity at all, both LEDs remain OFF. It’s important to mention that users can further custom configure the function of the LEDs to suit their needs. For backup the RAM memory, a Lithium battery is installed on the inside of the PCM faceplate. For shipment purposes, the battery is disconnected and should be connected before installation of the module. When the PCM is stored for a prolonged time duration, it’s prudent to disconnect the battery unless you want to preserve the program saved in the RAM.
