A processing unit is a uniquely identifiable physical unit that consists of packaging and content. A processing unit may contain materials registered in the warehouse management subsystem and may contain other processing units.

The structure of the processing unit is composed of packaging materials and materials. The processing unit structure can be varied. This can be as simple as a single box containing a specific number of materials, or as complex as a pallet containing many boxes, each containing smaller boxes containing several materials. The processing unit structure can contain a variety of processing units that have parent-child relationships. You can manually create a processing unit structure to hold a specified amount of material; You can also set a template in the defined packaging definition and use the template to determine the structure of the processing unit to place a particular type of material. The use of processing units

A processing unit is a single entity that can be used to process goods in a warehouse. Thus, a processing unit can be used to receive, store, and distribute goods.

To use a processing unit for warehouse processing, you must link the processing unit to the entity that represents the applicable warehouse movement:

Incoming or outgoing warehouse receipt bank
Receipt header or receiving line
Inspection bank
Incoming or outgoing notification bank
Shipping header or loading run

After the processing unit is linked to the receipt line, the receiving line, and so on, the processing unit can present both administrative and physical information about the content. For more information, see Inbound processes and processing units and Outbound processes and processing units.

To link a processing unit to any header or any line, generate a processing unit for that row. For example, if a processing unit is generated for an installation run, a link is established between the processing unit and the installation run. For more information, see Maintenance Processing Unit.

Automatic identification of processing units is a viable approach because the user controls the movement of materials with as few keystrokes as possible. To do this, you can attach a label to the processing unit. By defining the processing unit structure and scanning labels, warehousing activities during receiving and shipping can be quickly and automatically performed.

You can warehouse processing either by processing unit or by order line.
