The new PS9xxx buffering and redundancy module expands the universal 24/48 V DC power supply series from Beckhoff. These new modules provide more efficient options to avoid machine and plant downtime, thereby improving system availability. With the complementary PS9xxx module, PS power supply series and CU81xx UPS series, Beckhoff offers a complete and coherent solution for reliable power supply in the 24 and 48 V DC range.
Buffer module to prevent power interference
The PS90xx buffer module prevents voltage dips and fluctuations in the grid or interference caused by peak loads, enabling reliable and trouble-free operation of the power supply unit and connected loads. For this purpose, the buffer module stores energy through maintenance-free electrolytic capacitors and releases it when needed. In this way, for example, power failures can be effectively bridged.
Buffer modules do not require control lines; They can be connected to the load circuit in parallel at any time. In addition, multiple modules can be connected in parallel to provide more power or further increase the power failure bridge time.
Redundant modules prevent system downtime
The PS94xx redundancy module creates a redundant fail-safe power supply network. In such a system, two or more power units are connected in parallel and decoupled by one or more redundant modules. This prevents a short circuit in the output of one of the power supplies from short-circuiting the output voltage.
Redundant modules are decoupled using efficient MOSFET technology to reduce voltage drop and power consumption. As a result, the device has significantly lower power losses compared to conventional diode modules.
