Product Description
This unit is one of the several devices from Woodward Inc. Woodward, one of the oldest and leading manufacturers of digital control devices, designed the 505 and 505E models of control units. These devices are built with a microprocessor-based setup to properly operate and streamline steam turbine operations of all sizes.
This unit is designated under the numerical ID of 9907-162. This device is able to run turbines by using one to two of the split-stage actuators in order to drive the inlet steam valves. The 9907-162 is one of the Woodward 505 modules designed to operate single extraction and/or admission applications for steam turbines.
The 9907-162 model, as well as the rest of these series, are designed to be field programmable by the on-site operators on hand. This is achievable by the fully integrated operator control panel on the front-facing side of the unit. It is an informational text display that has two lines available, each with 24 characters.
The 9907-162 model also includes an optional NEMA 4X protective casing. While it does keep the internal printed circuitry safe from invasive materials, attaching the protective frame limits the amount of heat that the model can function safely in. This unit is also designed to perform as a first alarm indicator of system shutdowns, which in turn reduces the amount of time spent troubleshooting.
