Flexibility to meet project needs: Whether you have anisolated wellhead or a large emergency shutdown (ESD)application, the DeltaV SlS system scales to provide you withthe safety coverage you need for your SlL 1. 2, and 3 safetyfunctions. Each CHARMs Smart Logic Solver provides l/Oprocessing,SlL 3-capable logic solving, and diagnostics.This means that processing power is added as the systemexpands.If the l/O limit is reached, a CSLS is added increasing
memoryand processing capacity along the additional l/O.
This allows for l/O scalability without impacting the scan rate.
Modularity also provides isolation of safety instrumentedfunctions (SlF). This isolation eliminates single-points offailure forimproved availability and safety integrity.
DeltaV SlS components can be added online to facilitate
system expansions.

From a local l/O cabinetto remote enclosures miles away, simply install the CSLS andconnect it to the Local Safety Network (LSN). Each CSLS directlyread the input signals from any other CSLS on the same LSNevery 50 ms, the same way as the inputs wired directly to itsown LS CHARM system.The distributed CHARMs provides evenfurtherfexibility for l/O deployment.
