The Extreme Switching X440-G2 series switches are based on Extreme Networks® ExtremeXOS®, an adaptable operating system that provides continuous uptime, manageability, and operational efficiency. Each switch provides consistent high-performance, non-blocking hardware technology, continuing the extreme network tradition of simplifying network deployment by using common hardware and software in the network. The extreme Exchange X440-G2 switch is a cost efficient campus edge switch that supports the IEEE802.3at PoE+ standard.

Flexible port configuration
All models have four SFP 1GbE ports on the front or rear panel. 12, 24, and 48-port 1GbE ports in most models of 10/100/1000 models support software license upgrades to 10Gb SFP+ Ethernet ports. Note that the extended temperature model does not support the 10GbE upgrade. In addition, there are four 1Gbes on the front panel of the 24 and 48-port 10/100/1000 switches

Extended temperature range support The X440-G2 is available in 3 models supporting 0⁰C to 60⁰C operating range (models 16539,16540 and 16541). Up to eight X440-G2 switches can be stacked using SummitStack-V. Each X440-G2 switch provides two stack ports through one SFP+ port, except for switches that extend the temperature range. Standard 10Gb Ethernet optical modules and passive and active cables can be used for SFP+ ports

IEEE 802.3AT POE-PLUS
IEEE 802.3af PoE is already widely used at the edge of enterprise campus networks to power Ethernet devices such as wireless access points, voice IP phones, and security cameras. Ethernet port extenders such as the ReachNXT™ 100-8t for extreme networking can also leverage PoE, making installation and management easier and reducing maintenance costs. The updated IEEE 802.3at PoE+ standard enhances Power over Ethernet technology by increasing the power ceiling to 30w and standardizing power negotiation using LLDP. The X440-G2 supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+ and current and future standards-compatible PoE devices.
